Amyas Borton Commissioned into the 2nd Battalion, The Black Watch, in 1906. He gained his Royal Aero Club certificate in 1911 and transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in 1914. He remained in the newly formed Royal Air Force after the First World War, rising to the rank of Air Vice-Marshal and making the first flight from England to India.
