Harold Amery was the brother of politician Leopold Amery. He joined the Black Watch in 1897 and was attached to the Egyptian Army from 1901. For this service he was awarded the Order of the Medjidieh and the Order of the Osmanieh. He returned to the regiment in 1911 and commanded D Company of the 1st Battalion at the outbreak of War in 1914. He died of wounds in London on 25th November 1915 and is buried in Kensal Green Cemetery.
