Charles Dalglish commissioned into The Black Watch in 1901 and saw action during the Second Anglo-Boer War. In 1914 he was second in command of B Company, 1st Black Watch, under the command of Maurice Drummond. He was killed in action during the Battle of the Marne on 9th September 1914, becoming the second Australian national to be killed during the First World War.
